An early morning fatal accident involving a tractor-trailer rig closed a short section of Interstate 10 between Tucson and Phoenix, detouring traffic onto frontage roads.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety says a westbound big rig loaded with boxes of dairy goods veered into the median near Eloy early Thursday morning. It then rolled and ejected the driver, who was not wearing his seatbelt.

DPS says traffic is being diverted around the scene via frontage roads and that the closure of eastbound traffic lanes would last for several hours while the wreckage is removed.

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to expect delays and allow for extra travel time.
