MOUNT AIRY, N.C. – Authorities in North Carolina say a 60-year-old woman was fatally shot while working in her rice garden.
News outlets report that See Vue died after being shot in her upper torso Tuesday afternoon outside her home in the Westfield community in northeastern Surry County.
No arrests have been made, and, as of Wednesday, there were no suspects.
Surry County Sheriff Graham Atkinson says Vue's husband and son were at home when the shooting occurred, but Atkinson declined to tell the Winston-Salem Journal (http://bit.ly/297JH15) if they saw it.
Neighbor Bryan Marion tells WGHP-TV (http://bit.ly/297JtHv ) that Vue's husband was 3 feet to 4 feet away from his wife when she was shot.
Investigators are trying to determine if Vue was shot accidentally or whether she was targeted.
