The parents of a University of New Hampshire student who was raped and killed are fighting to keep details about her sexual history from exposure to the public.

Westborough, Massachusetts, resident Elizabeth "Lizzi" Marriott was 19 years old when she was killed in 2012.

Seth Mazzaglia (muh-ZAYL'-ee-uh) is serving life in prison for a murder conviction. His case is going through the appeals process.

A Friday ruling by the state Supreme Court could open previously sealed documents relating to Marriott's "alleged prior consensual sexual activity" that form the basis for Mazzaglia's appeal.

The New Hampshire attorney general's office has won a temporary stay in the records' unsealing.

The state and Marriott's family argue unsealing the documents would invade Marriott's privacy and undermine the state's rape shield law.
