It's "hello sailor" time in New York City.

The annual Fleet Week is bringing a flotilla of activities and as many as 4,500 Navy, Coast Guard and Marine service members.

On Wednesday, a parade of ships sailed up the Hudson River and docked around the city. Later in the week, free tours and military demonstrations are set to take place.

The events continue through Memorial Day.

This year marks New York's 28th Fleet Week. Government budget cuts forced officials to cancel Fleet Week in 2013, but the festivities returned the next year.
