Recently released documents show two men brutally beat a Montana man outside a Wyoming saloon after an argument over a racial remark.

The Sheridan Press (http://bit.ly/1Wxgbo1 ) reported Saturday that 21-year-old Dylan Dygert and 26-year-old Jacob Olson were jailed on $20,000 bond in the May 8 attack. Court documents released after their Friday court appearance show the assault left Clayton Denny, of Billings, with serious head injuries, including a concussion and broken bones. Denny is half black and half Chippewa and Cree.

Investigators say Denny told them he was jumped behind the Beaver Creek Saloon, where he was drinking with Dygert and Olson. He told police the fight started after Olson made a racial remark.

The documents show Olson and Dygert told police they were attacked by Denny and forced to defend themselves.
