A Salt Lake City area light rail train derailed and three people were injured.

A spokesman for South Salt Lake police said the train went off the tracks Sunday afternoon.

Spokesman Gary Keller said in a news release that 14 people were riding when the train derailed.

Initial reports said four people were injured, but the Salt Lake Tribune reported later that there were just three hurt.

Utah Transit Authority PIO Remi Barron told the newspaper that the derailment occurred in a curve in the tracks about 2:30 p.m.

Buses were used in the area with the train out of service.

Barron said the UTA expects to have service restored ahead of the Monday morning commute.
