ATLANTA – Nigerian princess Modupe Ozolua wants to help survivors enduring the continuous attacks from the Boko Haram militant group through a fundraiser in Atlanta.
Ozolua will be raising money to assist displaced victims in her inaugural "Rise Above Terror" African Art Gala on Saturday. She hopes the money can help rebuild schools, homes, provide medical relief and food to help some of the millions who've been unable to leave an area with burnt villages and destroyed schools.
The gala will auction about 40 pieces of African artwork. Through her foundation, Empower 54, she has played a role in aiding Boko Haram victims for 13 years, but this is the first time she's raising money in the United States.
Ozolua is a princess from the Benin Empire in southern Nigeria.
