Authorities say a man accused of throwing a 17-year-old girl off a roof years before he was convicted of rape has been charged with murder in her 1989 death.

Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark says Scott Parilla originally was questioned about Noelis Bayanilla but not prosecuted due to insufficient evidence.

Parilla pleaded guilty in 2003 to charges of rape and sodomy in connection with 1993 attacks on two other teenage girls.

Bayanilla's case was reopened last year and authorities say rediscovered DNA evidence led to Parilla's arrest.

Police say that before dying, Bayanilla told her mother and nurses some details of the attack by blinking: once for yes, twice for no.

Parilla's attorney did not immediately respond to a message requesting comment.
