A New Jersey man accused of beating a boy in a violent attack captured on video has been charged with aggravated assault.

West Deptford police say Paul Cojocaru also is charged with making terroristic threats. The 26-year-old National Park man has been released after posting $50,000 bail.

The charges stem from a video posted online last week. The video shows a man throwing numerous punches and kicks at the boy and tossing him to the ground.

Police started their investigation after several people reported seeing the video.

Authorities say the boy isn't related to Cojocaru but knows him. They say the boy is OK and is safe with his family. They say it's unclear what prompted the attack.

A telephone number for Cojocaru couldn't be located Monday. It's unknown if he has an attorney.
