Investigators including the Dare County Narcotics Task Force said they searched the hospital and the owners' home in nearby Colington last week.

The facility responded in a Facebook post, "Our Hospital Is Experiencing Some Necessary Staff Changes, However, We Will Continue To Open Our Doors And Serve The Outer Banks With The Same Caring, Compassion and Excellence In Veterinary Care, That We Have Provided For 30 Years."

Nags Head, part of North Carolina's Outer Banks, is roughly 80 miles southeast of Norfolk, Virginia.
