PITTSBURGH – Police say it appears a woman killed her 85-year-old mother inside her New York home before killing herself inside a hotel room in Pennsylvania.
Police in Pennsylvania's Cranberry Township say a 55-year-old woman was found dead in the Red Roof Inn early Wednesday afternoon. Police say she had self-inflicted wounds that didn't involve a gun. Other evidence in the room led investigators to contact Buffalo police to check on the welfare of her mother.
The mother was found dead in her Buffalo home about an hour later.
Cranberry police say the deaths are being treated as a murder-suicide. The women's names aren't being released while the investigation continues.
Cranberry Township is about 20 miles north of Pittsburgh and about 115 miles southwest of Buffalo.
