BALTIMORE – House Republicans are investigating the Benghazi attacks. And now they've seen the movie.
In Baltimore for their annual issues retreat, dozens of Republicans went together Thursday night to see "13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi," about the 2012 attacks in Libya that killed the U.S. ambassador and three other Americans at a State Department outpost and CIA annex.
Several were moved by the film, especially those involved in the investigation, according to Rep. Rob Bishop of Utah.
"If you think about it, it was sad and it was wrong and it was touching," Bishop told reporters. "Well done."
The outing was organized by North Carolina Rep. Mark Walker, according to several lawmakers. Neither Walker nor Bishop is a member of the select House panel that has been investigating the attacks since May 2014.
The GOP investigation has focused in part on Hillary Clinton's role as secretary and state, and also whether there was a "stand down" order that delayed sending a rescue team. Earlier congressional investigations determined there wasn't one, but the movie revives that claim.
