Medical van driver sexually assaulted 13-year-old patient, cops say

A medical van driver has been jailed on charges he stopped to have sex with a 13-year-old patient he was transferring to a western Pennsylvania mental hospital.

A Med-Van Transport spokesman said Tuesday the company was blindsided by the charges against 26-year-old Scott Weimer of Altoona and had no immediate comment.

Weimer was driving the girl from a Johnstown hospital to Southwood Hospital in Upper St. Clair when police saw the van parked along a road about 4:30 a.m. Monday.

Police say that when an officer stopped to see if the driver needed help, they found Weimer and the girl putting on their clothes. Police say in a criminal complaint the girl appeared "lethargic" and "unable to care for herself."

Weimer faces a preliminary hearing Nov. 19 on charges including statutory sexual assault. Court records don't list an attorney.
