Authorities say a Pennsylvania police officer killed himself after a standoff that began when officers came to arrest him.

The Cumberland County District Attorney's Office expects to have more to say on Tuesday about Susquehanna Police Sgt. Ronald Reinhart Jr.

Monday's standoff began in Carroll, about 25 miles south of Pittsburgh, when police arrived at Reinhart's home to arrest him.

Police say Reinhart was suspected of staging a jewelry theft in Upper Allen on July 25. Police believe the officer hid the jewelry in an attempt to frame another person of the crime.

Reinhart joined the police force in 1998.
