Man who climbed Brooklyn Bridge, took selfie is arrested; says he didn't know it was illegal

A Tennessee man who police say illegally climbed the Brooklyn Bridge and took a selfie while perched on a railing has been arrested.

WRCB-TV reports ( that 21-year-old David Karnauch of Chattanooga was arrested Sunday by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office on a warrant from the New York Police Department. The charge is reckless endangerment, and he is being held in Tennessee without bond as a fugitive from New York.

The selfie from the July incident made national headlines. New York Police say Karnauch acted in an "irresponsible" and "illegal" manner.

Karnauch told CBS New York ( that nobody tried to stop him from climbing the bridge and that he didn't know it was forbidden.
