Special rail passes to be used by commuters during Pope Francis' visit to Philadelphia in September will be sold via an online lottery.

The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority announced Tuesday a one-day lottery will be held Aug. 3 for passes on its regional rail system.

Officials emphasize customers will be able to enter their requests anytime that day so there will be no reason to rush immediately after midnight to the lottery website, which is being built.

Overwhelming demand forced a halt to the sale of the passes last month.

The one-day passes are $10 each. They're limited in number and required for travel on Regional Rail during the papal visit Sept. 26-27. Each person selected in the lottery will be able to buy 10 tickets for each day.
