Authorities say a reputed member of New York's Gambino crime family has been arrested in Ohio after an 18-month investigation uncovered a $3 million scam involving stolen cars and scrap metal.

Fifty-five-year-old Carmine "The Bull" Agnello was arrested Wednesday at the Cleveland scrap yard he's been operating since his release from federal prison in 2008.

He received a nine-year sentence and was ordered to pay $11 million in restitution after pleading guilty to a racketeering charge related to a scrap business in Queens, New York. Agnello was once married to Victoria Gotti, daughter of late Gambino crime boss John Gotti.

Police say Agnello bought cars stolen in Cleveland, filled them with dirt to add weight and then sold the compacted cars to an unidentified scrap yard.

It couldn't immediately be determined whether Agnello had an attorney who could comment on his arrest.
