Police say a 2-year-old girl found dead in the woods of a Pittsburgh suburb had been placed there by someone because it was too far for her to walk by herself.

Allegheny County police say Adrionna Williams was discovered dead about 40 minutes after her family reported her missing Sunday. She would have turned 3 next month.

County police Lt. Andrew Schurman says a dog walker found Adrionna in a wooded ravine in Swissvale at around 7:45 p.m.

The girl's family had reported her missing in neighboring Wilkinsburg at about 7:05 p.m. Police say that's about 30 minutes after she was last seen alive.

Police say they don't suspect Adrionna was abducted by a stranger.

The Allegheny County medical examiner's office plan to conduct an autopsy on her Monday.
