A bus passenger in Seattle was stabbed and seriously injured Wednesday night by another rider.

Both men got into an altercation about seating arrangements when the knife-wielding man stabbed the other rider, Q13Fox.com reports. The suspect fled before police arrived to the scene.

The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital and is in serious condition, according to The Fire Department.

Police said the victim boarded Metro route No. 132 and sat down next to the suspect. The suspect began to argue with how close he sat to him, the Seattle Police Department said.

When the bus driver stopped, the suspect fled on foot before officers could arrive.

The suspect is said to have been a black man, about 40 years old, wearing a black coat with blue jeans and a black knit hat.
