SEARCY, Ark. – Dozens of searchers are combing neighborhoods around the home in Searcy where a 2-year-old child has disappeared.
Police say the child, Malik Drummond, walked away from the home about 5:45 p.m. Sunday. The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports that an Amber Alert was issued a short time later and was upgraded early Monday after initial search efforts in the area were unsuccessful.
Police say Malik is black, stands about 3 feet tall, weighs about 40 pounds and has brown hair and brown eyes. He was wearing brown pants and a blue shirt. Authorities say the child is also autistic.
A spokesman for the Searcy Police Department, Cpl. Steve Hernandez, foul play is not suspected in the toddler's disappearance. Authorities say Malik was home with his father and stepmother when he disappeared.
