Former Fox News anchor Terry Keenan died late Thursday, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In a statement to Mediaite.com, Keenan's sister, Linda, said the former anchor died of a massive cerebral hemorrhage and had received treatment at New York's Lenox Hill Hospital.

"It is with tremendous sorrow that we report the passing, due to a massive cerebral hemorrhage, of a wonderful mother, wife, sister, and pioneering financial journalist," the statement read. "Terry was a trailblazer who credited much of her success to her beloved mother's emphasis on education, which led her to Holy Names Academy in Albany, NY, and a math scholarship to Johns Hopkins University."

Keenan, who most recently worked as a business columnist for the Sunday editions of the New York Post, is believed to have been 53 years old. Her last story for the newspaper was published on Sunday.

Keenan previously worked as an anchor and business correspondent for Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network, where she hosted Saturday’s “Cashin’ In” program. She left Fox News in 2009.

Prior to joining Fox, Keenan served as an anchor and senior correspondent for CNN Business News. She also anchored “Moneyline Weekend Edition with Terry Keenan” and worked as a correspondent on “Moneyline.” She also worked as an anchor at CNBC.

Keenan graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Johns Hopkins University, according to her biography on FoxNews.com. She is reportedly survived by her husband, Ronald Klass, son Benjamin and two sisters.
