Authorities have identified one of three men found stabbed to death in the California apartment of Elliot Rodger, who police say fatally shot three others in a killing spree that ended with the suspect's suicide.

KSBY-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1gu9W00 ) that Santa Barbara District Attorney Joyce Dudley said Sunday that 20-year-old Cheng Yuan Hong was among the first three killed in Friday's night's rampage.

Hong's relatives have been notified of his death.

The identities of the other two men in the apartment have not been released.

Dudley says Hong was involved in a case involving stolen candles. Sheriff's officials mentioned that case at a Saturday press conference, saying Rodger contacted authorities reporting his roommate had stolen candles.

Hong was charged with petty theft, and Dudley says he pleaded guilty.
