Witness in Tenn. who says he refused to testify because of attacks now faces prison time

Legal experts say the case of a Somali refugee who is facing years in prison for refusing to testify against members of an alleged child sex-trafficking ring is extraordinary because prosecutors usually don't come down so hard on their own witnesses.

A federal jury in Nashville convicted Abdullahi Farah of contempt and obstruction of a child sex-trafficking case in April. Prosecutors say the 24-year-old will face up to life in prison when he is sentenced at a yet to be determined date.

Farah says he is afraid to testify because he was attacked twice and his family has been threatened. Prosecutors doubt Farah's attacks and threats.

So far, every defendant who has gone to trial has either been acquitted or had their conviction thrown out.
