Penn State trustees to hold news conference on report

Penn State's Board of Trustees have scheduled an afternoon news conference to discuss the findings of former FBI director Louis Freeh's report on the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal.

A university statement issued shortly after the report was released Thursday morning said school leaders would give "careful scrutiny and consideration" before making any announcements. They were scheduled to meet the media at 3:30 p.m. at a hotel in Scranton, where the board had a regularly-scheduled meeting.

Trustees declined comment after they broke from a meeting at 9 a.m. to go to their rooms to read the report and watch Freeh's own morning press conference. They said they had not yet seen the report.

Trustees hired Freeh to lead the investigation about two weeks after Sandusky was arrested in November.
