Massachusetts police have ended their search for a missing 2-year-old from Gloucester who disappeared from a Rockport beach last week.

State police spokesman David Procopio said 24 divers, along with boats, worked Wednesday off Cape Hedge beach, near Long Beach, searching the site where toddler Caleigh Anne Harrison was last seen, MyFoxBoston reported.

Teams scoured the beach where the child was last seen on Thursday, operating from Granite Pier. Dive crews went back in the water, but officials said unless anything shows up, it would be their last effort.

Caleigh was on a bridge with her mother and 4-year-old sister last Thursday when a ball they were playing with got away from them, MyFoxBoston reported.

The mom says she went to get the ball and, when she returned, Caleigh had disappeared.

Police ruled out criminal activity following several interviews with witnesses who were in the area that day, but Caleigh's family is not convinced. They believe she was abducted and are still posting missing person fliers.

"The water is calmer than it has been and it helps that the sun is out." Massachusetts State Trooper Todd Nolan told FoxNews.com. "Conditions are optimal for today's search."

Nolan added that there is no status change in the case as of  late Thursday morning.

He would not comment on the possibility of Caleigh being kidnapped.
