Disneyland reopens after probe into suspicious package

The Disneyland theme park in California was put on temporary lockdown Saturday after a suspicious object was discovered.

The park was reopened to the public after nothing dangerous was found, according to FOX News Channel.

Park employees spotted the object in a tree near a ticket booth at around 7:15 am local time and called police, who contacted the bomb squad, Anaheim Police Department spokesman Sgt. Bob Dunn said.

The park was not evacuated as the bomb squad investigated, but no guests were allowed in, according to Dunn.

The object turned out to be part of a geocaching game, in which participants use GPS devices to track hidden packages, KNSD-TV reported.

While the lockdown infuriated guests who were delayed from entering Disneyland, it worked out well for those who were already inside the park when it was ordered.

A tweet from the theme park news Twitter feed ThemeParkTimes read, "Since Disneyland is on a lockdown due to unidentified object ... guests inside are enjoying an empty park with walk-ons to rides."
