Philadelphia residents react to news of mom stabbing her kids to death
Authorities say a Philadelphia mother admitted to killing her two young children after they were discovered stabbed to death inside the family's apartment, MyFoxPhilly.com reported.
Police have not released the names of the 27-year-old woman -- or her son and daughter, ages 8 and 12, respectively -- but say the children were stabbed multiple times in the chest area and discovered Wednesday in their bedroom. The older daughter had defensive wounds on her arms and hands, according to the report.
The mother moved to the U.S. from Cambodia about a year and a half ago. Police say she may have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The mother also reportedly tried to kill herself by ingesting an unidentified item.
She was reportedly taken for a mental evaluation at a nearby hospital.
