A male fashion model, who sported designer labels like Versace and appeared in a Katy Perry music video, was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver, Fox40.com reports.

Eric Zentner, 30, was on his way to visit his mother Saturday in Gold River, Calif., east of Sacramento, when he was fatally struck by another driver, according to the station.

Zentner, who graced the pages of Vogue and also appeared in Katy Perry's "Hot N Cold" video, was struck when he got out of his car along a California freeway at 3:45 a.m. Saturday. Zentner had reportedly run out of gas outside of Santa Barbara.

"He exited the vehicle and began walking," California Highway Patrol Officer Cliff Powers said. "We believe at some point he crossed the road east."

The driver, meanwhile, fled the scene of the accident. Authorities believe the motorist was driving a light blue Dodge Caravan from the mid-1990s.

"I've thought about that a lot," his cousin, Zach Zentner, told the station. "I just wonder what their situation is. I hope they can bring it to themselves to come forward and admit it to themselves. They need to do something about this and say 'this is what happened.' "

California Highway Patrol officers say they are looking for any tips that might help them find the vehicle that struck Zentner.
