A worker who suffered a head injury on a ride undergoing maintenance at Disney's Animal Kingdom has died, MyFoxOrlando.com reports.

The accident happened Sunday afternoon at the Primeval Whirl ride in the park's DinoLand U.S.A. section.

Officials say 52-year-old Russell Sherry Roscoe was flown to Orlando Regional Medical Center where he died Monday morning.

Bo Jones, the assistant chief of Reedy Creek Emergency Services, says the cause of the accident was not clear.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office Homicide Unit and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the incident.

The ride, which Disney describes as a mild roller coaster, is closed while undergoing maintenance so no guests were in the area when the accident happened.
