A California man had a theft to report to Oakland police, but this was no ordinary larceny -- someone walked off with his prosthetic leg from his front yard.

Resident Darryl Turner told KTVU that he removed his leg to take a quick ride on a four-wheeler that he had finished repairing. Turner left the leg propped on the gate of his front yard, but when he returned it was missing.

"I been living here eight years, and it's not the first time I've taken it off in my yard," he said. "And it's never been stolen."

The custom-made leg is valued at $7,500, although Turner’s doctor said it has little resale value considering its specifications.
