A popular Massachusetts high school varsity wrestling coach was arrested for possession of child pornography, MyFoxBoston.com reports.

Authorities said David Castricone, a coach at North Andover High School, was arrested Monday following a week-long investigation.

Police reportedly received a tip on Wednesday and searched Castricone's home on Friday. They did not disclose what they found inside Castricone's home.

The North Andover School Superintendent, Chris Hottel, said Castricone has resigned, citing health and personal matters.

In a statement released to MyFoxBoston, Hottel said, "Given that the investigation is in progress it would be inappropriate for the School Department to comment on the allegations or the police investigation."

The varsity wrestling team is competing for the state title on Wednesday.

Castricone has posted $500 bail and is set to be arraigned on Tuesday.
