Citing safety as its main concern, the town of Foxboro, Mass., voted to have trick-or-treaters celebrate Halloween one day early.
This year, Halloween falls on a Sunday, when the Patriots host a home football game at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro.
Lynda Walsh, Chair of the Board of Selectmen, told MyFoxBoston, "You have to remember Foxboro goes from 17,000 people to 80,000 when we host a game." She went on to say that the board is worried about kids trick-or-treating outside at the same time drivers unfamiliar with local roads inundate the area. "Always err on the side of safety so unanimously we decided to do that."
Some call it an overreaction and want to celebrate Halloween on the 31st. Dave Sturgis says, "The Patriots, they play on Route One. I don't think anybody should be trick-or-treating on Route One. There shouldn't be any safety issues with that."
