Florida - A pilot whose plane was having engine problems made an emergency landing on the football field of a Tampa, Fl middle school Tuesday night.

According to the Tampa Police Department, pilot Erik Stasiowski had just taken off from Tampa International Airport when he had engine trouble and tried to turn the plane back reported MyFoxTampaBay.

He ended up making an emergency landing on the football field behind Stewart Middle School.

The pilot was not injured, and was the only person onboard.

Stewart Middle School was in the news Monday morning when Florida Fish and Wildlife officers removed a gator trapped in one of the school's hallways.

The gator had apparently wandered onto the school grounds from the nearby Hillsborough River.

Employees coaxed it into a hallway until trappers could remove it. The incident took place around 7 a.m. before any students arrived at the school.
