The Miami Marlins Double-A minor league affiliate is changing its name from the Jacksonville Suns to the Jumbo Shrimp.

The name change was announced during a Wednesday morning news conference in Jacksonville.

The team's new logo is a large shrimp in the shape of the letter "J" and the colors will be St. John's Navy and patriotic blue, accented with American red.

Team owner Ken Babby who bought the team two years ago tells the Florida Times-Union the name change is "a high-energy, impactful, bold move."

The team was the New York Mets Triple-A affiliate from 1962-68. There was no team in 1969 but returned in 1970 as the Jacksonville Expos. The name switched back to the Suns in 1991 after the Seattle Mariners took over as the parent club.
