SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) Syracuse will honor the late Dwayne ''Pearl'' Washington when the Orange resumes its basketball rivalry with Georgetown at the Carrier Dome in December.

The tribute to Pearl will include a ''31'' logo affixed to one of the Jim Boeheim Court sidelines, at approximately the same distance from where Washington made his memorable half-court shot to defeat Boston College on Jan. 21, 1984. A limited number of $31 seats also will be made available for purchase.

The former Big East rivals play Dec. 17. Syracuse holds a 49-42 advantage in the series, which dates to the 1929-30 season.

Washington, a Brooklyn native who longtime Orange coach Jim Boeheim called the most important player in Syracuse history, died of cancer in April in New York City. He was 52.
