Alex Noren edged closer to his second European Tour win in Scotland in the space of a month after beating compatriot Johan Carlsson in the quarterfinals of the Paul Lawrie Match Play on Saturday.

The Swede pushed ahead early as he moved to 4 up after just 6 holes. Carlsson was able to delay victory until the 16th hole, but finally went down 4 and 2 to Noren, who won the Scottish Open in July.

Noren, the only non-Englishman still in the tournament, plays James Morrison in the semifinals on Saturday, after Morrison beat Spaniard Alejandro Canizares 4 and 2.

In the other quarterfinals, Oliver Fisher triumphed over Germany's Maximilian Kieffer 3 and 2. He plays Anthony Wall in an all-English semifinal later Saturday, after Wall finished 2 up against South African Hadyn Porteous.
