PITTSBURGH (AP) Notre Dame isn't getting caught up in its initial spot in the College Football Playoff poll.

The Irish (7-1) understand their current position in fifth won't matter much if they can't find a way to keep winning. Notre Dame's first test of a tricky November comes Saturday against Pitt (6-2).

The two rivals have played each other tough over the last decade, with nine of the last 10 meetings decided by eight points or less.

Pitt upset the Irish two years ago and the Panthers know a win over Notre Dame would give the program momentum heading down the stretch.
