Outfielder Carlos Gomez will be out of action for the Houston Astros during their big four-game tilt with the Texas Rangers this week, it was announced by general manager Jeff Luhnow.

The series, which could have big ramifications as far as the AL West division title is concerned, began on Monday. Gomez is dealing with a strain of his left intercostal muscle, but Luhnow told Evan Drellich of the Houston Chronicle that Gomez's particular strain isn't as serious as it could be:

Since joining Houston in July, Gomez is hitting .234/.282/.379 with four home runs and 13 RBI in 38 games.
