CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) Reserve tight end Jay Jay McCullough will miss Clemson's opener against Wofford because of an academic suspension.

Coach Dabo Swinney announced McCullough's status shortly before Saturday's game against the Terriers from the Football Championship Subdivision. Swinney said McCullough would miss the game for the 12th-ranked Tigers because of an academic matter from this past spring.

McCullough was suspended for the final four games of last season for an undisclosed violation of team rules.

McCullough is a 6-foot-3, 255-pound junior from Fort Mill. He caught seven passes in nine games in 2014.
