NEW YORK (AP) New York Mets left fielder Michael Cuddyer has been re-examined by doctors and a decision on whether his aching left knee will send him to the disabled list should come soon.
Cuddyer was not in the lineup Thursday night against the Dodgers and had started only seven of the previous 18 games.
Mets manager Terry Collins says Cuddyer's knee has been feeling worse in recent days. General manager Sandy Alderson said the medication Cuddyer has been taking was making the outfielder lightheaded.
Alderson also says injured third baseman David Wright (back) will return to New York next week and begin baseball activities. Wright went on the DL on April 15. There is no timetable for his return.
Mets catcher Travis d'Arnaud (elbow) was set to begin a minor league rehab assignment.
