Scott Dixon's three championships since 2003 couldn't be more different.

He was too young to appreciate his 2003 title, which came in his first full season with Chip Ganassi Racing and their first year in the IndyCar Series.

Dixon's second title in 2008 came during one of those seasons drivers only dream about — he won six races, including the Indianapolis 500, and got married.

But this latest championship capped a remarkable comeback in a year in which Dixon wasn't even a contender at the halfway point. He was winless and seventh in the standings before he began his rally, which Dixon completed Saturday night at Auto Club Speedway with a fifth-place finish to beat Helio Castroneves for the title.
