The Toronto Blue Jays on Thursday signed free agent infielder Maicer Izturis to a 3-year deal worth $9 million, plus a fourth-year option valued at $3 million.

The 32-year-old switch-hitting Venezuelan spent the last eight years of his career with the Angels, hitting .256 with two homers, 11 doubles and 20 RBI in 100 games for the AL West club in 2012.

Signed by the Cleveland Indians as a free agent in 1998, Izturis made his major league debut in 2004 with the Montreal Expos.

In 791 games, he has totaled 34 homers, 146 doubles and 301 RBI along with a lifetime fielding percentage of .973.
