Mario Gomez scored four goals as Bayern 0, on Tuesday in the second leg of their Champions 1.

Basel stunned the German side in the first leg in Switzerland, 1-0, but the return leg was a one-sided affair. Arjen Robben scored the first of his two goals after just 11 minutes, Thomas Muller followed in the 42nd, and Gomez added the first of four straight in the 44th.

Gomez has 10 goals in the Champions League this season, second to Barcelona star Lionel Messi's 12.

Bayern is back in the quarterfinals for the third time in four years, as it took one more step toward the May final in its own stadium.

The Munich side tied the series on aggregate early, as a shot from Muller fell to Robben in the area and the Dutchman set up a shot for his deadly left foot and slotted into the bottom right.

Basel was lucky to keep Bayern off the board over the next 30 minutes, but an excellent finish from Muller, who jumped to meet a Robben cross and finished with his first touch, doubled the lead 3 minutes before half.

Bayern added another before half when a Toni Kroos free kick to the right post was squared back across the 6-yard box by Holger Badstuber and Gomez was there at the left post to tap in his first of the match.

Gomez added his second 5 minutes after half as he reached a Franck Ribery pass and, similar to Muller in the first half, jumped to first-time the ball inside the near post on the opposite side.

Ribery set up the next goal in the 61st, and Gomez just had to turn a header into the net from 4 yards for his third goal. The duo combined again in the 67th, with Ribery delivering another cross from the left that Gomez swiftly drove into the net for his fourth goal.

In complete control, Bayern added a seventh - matching its total from a 7-1 win over Hoffenheim on Saturday - when Bastian Schweinsteiger put Robben into the area and he rounded the goalie and finished into an empty net.

Inter 2, Marseille 1

Milan, Italy - Brandao scored in stoppage time, the second Marseille goal in the series after the 90th minute, as the French side advanced despite a 2-1 loss to Inter Milan at the San Siro on Tuesday in the Champions League.

The series finished 2-2 on aggregate, but Marseille advanced on away goals.

Marseille won the first leg on a last-minute goal from Andre Ayew, and Inter failed to level the series until the 75th minute when Diego Milito converted.

But Brandao came off the bench to notch the winner, as he got a lucky bounce off his back at the top of the area into open space, then fired from 16 yards to seal Marseille's progression.

Inter added a penalty kick through Giampaolo Pazzini on the final play of the match, but the win was not enough to put the Italians through. Marseille went through on away goals with the series tied 2-2 on aggregate.

It will have to navigate the first leg of its quarterfinal series with goalie Steve Mandanda, who was sent off for the foul in the final seconds on Pazzini that led to the penalty.

Inter had advanced to the quarterfinals the last two seasons.
