The Florida Panthers have agreed to terms with year contract.

Madden has played in 867 NHL games with New Jersey, Chicago and Minnesota, and is a three-time Stanley Cup champion. He won titles with the Devils in 2000 and 2003, and another with the Blackhawks in 2010.

"John is a veteran player who brings to our team a wealth of playing experience having won two Stanley Cups with New Jersey and one with Chicago," said Panthers general manager Dale Tallon. "He is a hard working and responsible forward who plays well at both ends of the ice and is excellent on face-offs."

The 38-year-old Ontario native spent the 2010-11 campaign with Minnesota and compiled 12 goals with 13 assists for 25 points in 76 games. He played 10 years with the Devils before joining Chicago for the 2009-10 season.

Madden, the 2001 Selke Award winner as the league's top defensive forward, has 162 goals with 183 assists for 345 points during his career, and has won nearly 51 percent of faceoffs. He's added 21 goals and 43 points in 134 playoff games.
