Auburn Hills, MI – The Detroit Pistons re-signed forwards Tayshaun Prince and Jonas Jerebko on Monday.
Prince averaged 14.1 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 78 games, all starts, last season for the Pistons. He recorded his sixth 1,000-point season and played in 75-plus games for the seventh time in his nine-year career in Detroit.
The 31-year-old Prince holds career averages of 12.9 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists in 661 NBA games. He was the 23rd pick of the 2002 NBA Draft and helped the Pistons to the 2004 NBA title.
Jerebko is trying to come back from a partially ruptured right Achilles tendon, which forced him to miss all of the 2010-11 season. During his rookie season in 2009-10, Jerebko averaged 9.3 points and 6.0 rebounds in 80 games (73 starts).
Detroit added veteran swingman Damien Wilkins on Monday. He appeared in 52 games for the Atlanta Hawks last season, averaging 3.5 points and 1.7 rebounds.
The Pistons also signed draft selections Brandon Knight and Vernon Macklin.
Knight was selected by Detroit with the eighth overall selection in the 2011 NBA Draft. The University of Kentucky product averaged 17.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists in 38 games last season as a freshman for the Wildcats.
The 6-foot-3 guard set Kentucky freshman records in points scored (657), three-pointers made (87) and most 20-point games in a season (14).
Macklin was taken in the second round of this year's draft after averaging 11.6 points and 5.4 rebounds last season for the Florida Gators.
The 6-foot-10, 227-pound forward/center played his first two seasons at Georgetown University before transferring to Florida.
