Columbus, OH – The Columbus Blue Jackets have acquired defenseman Nikita Nikitin from the St. Louis Blues in exchange for defenseman Kris Russell.
The 25-year-old Nikitin has played in seven games for the Blues this season. He made his NHL debut for St. Louis in 2010-11, collecting one goal and eight assists in 41 contests.
Russell had two goals and one assist in 12 games for the Blue Jackets this season.
Columbus' third pick, 67th overall, in the 2005 draft, Russell had 18 goals and 61 assists in 288 career games with the Blue Jackets.
