The Pittsburgh Pirates placed day disabled list with a strained left oblique, retroactive to August 20.

Correia, 3o, has started 26 games for the Pirates this season, posting a 12-11 record with a 4.79 earned run average, 77 strikeouts and 39 walks.

In his last start, an 11-8 loss to the Cincinnati Reds on Friday, Correia gave up six runs on eight hits over six innings, but did not factor into the decision.

To fill the roster spot, the Pirates have recalled pitcher Chris Leroux from Triple-A Indianapolis and activated him from the 15-day DL.

Leroux was placed on the DL on July 28 with a left calf strain. He made six rehab appearances for the farm club, going 2-1 with a 2.08 ERA.
