Rep. Todd Akin-- should he withdraw his bid?
Congressman Todd Akin (R-MO) is under pressure from both sides of the aisle to withdraw his senate bid. Akin, the Republican nominee for the Senate in Missouri, is in hot water for comments he made to a local news station when asked whether he would support abortion in cases of rape. Akin replied "if it's a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down."
His campaign released a new ad asking for forgiveness for his comments, but calls for him to withdraw his bid --including from past and present MO senators-are mounting over fears that this could cost the GOP the chance to take control of the Senate. Akin is challenging Democratic Senator Claire McCaskill.
Rep. Akin has until 5pm today (Tuesday) to drop out, and if he misses the deadline a court order will be required to remove his name from the ballot. He has made it clear that he does not plan to withdraw from the race..
So we want to know-- what do you think? Should he drop out of the race?
