Grapevine: Pelosi compares Republicans to bacteria

And now some fresh pickings from the Political Grapevine... He Said, She Said We told you this week how House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi is backing up Senator Harry Reid's claims that he's been told Mitt Romney didn't pay any taxes for 10 years. Pelosi is also now comparing Republicans to potentially deadly bacteria. Addressing GOP efforts to cut the size of government Pelosi said -- quote-- "If you could depend on the government for one thing it was that you had to be able to trust the water that our kids drank and the food that they ate. But this is the E. coli club. They do not want to spend money to do that." On Second Thought Massachusetts Democratic Senate Candidate Elizabeth Warren is backing off her call for Republican incumbent Scott Brown to release more of his tax returns. Monday, Warren reportedly said Brown should release 20 years worth one for each year of his public service. Today, the Boston Globe reports Brown has already turned over more tax documents than Warren has. Six years for him four for her. Now Warren has changed her tune. A spokeswoman says -- quote -- "Both Elizabeth and Senator Brown have released multiple years of tax returns that she believes give voters an understanding of each candidate's financial circumstances." No Free Lunch? And finally, one Northern California school district is offering free breakfasts and lunches all summer-- and you're paying for it, through a Department of Agriculture program. Unlike the free meals provided to students in need during the school year there is no paperwork required in the summer. Anyone 18 and under can eat for free. Organizers contend that well-fed students will perform better in school the next year. But critics question whether that program leaves taxpayers on the hook for every child -- needy or not -- when school is out for summer. - ,
