Anthony Hopkins is so estranged from his only daughter that he doesn’t know whether or not he has any grandchildren — and he claims that he isn’t upset by that one bit.

Hopkins, 81, was married to first wife Petronella Barker from 1966 until 1972. Together, they share daughter Abigail, 48; who Hopkins reportedly walked out on when she was a toddler.

When asked if Abigail has given him any grandchildren — who intermittently went by Abigail Hopkins and Abigail Harrison — the Oscar winner told the Radio Times (via Metro), “I don’t have any idea. People break up. Families split and, you know, ‘Get on with your life.’ People make choices. I don’t care one way or the other.”

The actor, who is slated to star in the BBC’s adaptation of “King Lear,” added, “[My answer] is cold. Because life is cold. Children don’t like their fathers … you don’t have to love each other … It’s like John Osborne’s response when someone said to him, ‘Mr. Osborne, your play is so offensive,’ and he said, ‘Life is offensive.’"

Abigail and Hopkins reconciled briefly in the 1990s when she had small parts in Hopkins’ films “Shadowlands” and “The Remains of the Day,” but reportedly haven’t spoken much since.

Hopkins previously spoke of Abigail in an interview with Howard Stern in 2002.

“I guess we are estranged. I don’t think she wants to know very much [about me]. I hope she is well. I hope she is okay … The divorce with her mother was long time ago. I hardly ever hear from her, she probably has good reasons,” he told the shock jock (via Hello!), admitting that he may have been “selfish.”

“She is too busy and has to do her own thing,” he said. “I think she is in England somewhere. Life is life. You get on with it.”
